The M/54 is a hand-held fragmentation defensive grenade. The grenades are unpainted, have a brown paint finish, and some models feature a 10-millimeter (3/8-inch) yellow band around the body, above the crimp. The grenade body and fuse are made of steel; the grenade weighs approximately 520 grams (1.1 pounds). The primary explosive charge consists of 147 grams (5.2 ounces) of TNT.
