ASTROLITE
Composition
A family of binary explosives. Based on hydrazine with oxidizers such as ammonium nitrate, ammonium perchlorate, methanol and various additives.
Melting point
Decomposes at temperatures from 282° to 335° C, depending on the type.
Solubility
The mixed explosive becomes insensitive when diluted with a 50 percent volume of water.
Application
Military applications include building demolition and possible use in anti-personnel mines.
Note
Stable when stored in the original container. Compatible with aluminum, pure mild steel, titanium, stainless steel, polyethylene, Teflon, ethylene polypropylene, butyl, linen, all types of soil and glass. Incompatible with varnish, cellulose acetate, polyvinyl, neoprene, copper, brass, cotton, magnesium, cast iron, steel, iron oxides. Dangerous in the presence of tetryl.
