Solubility
Slightly soluble in ethyl alcohol or ethyl acetate. Soluble in acetone or nitrobenzene.
Application
Initiating explosive substance. It is used in industrial detonator capsules for blasting and as a substitute for thunderous mercury.
Note
Stable during storage without loss of power. It quickly darkens under the influence of sunlight. Slightly hygroscopic; does not react with water at normal temperatures, but is desensitized by it. It reacts weakly with copper and easily with lead azide. If contained, the flame causes a flash but does not detonate.
